Today seen our amateur team play their first game at home against an established Glasgow Corinthians side. With 3 wins form 3, the team were looking to kick off things well at home. With Manager Crawford absent from the fixture, Club Captain Greg Cairns took the reigns.
“It was a big game for me today, not only to lead and manage the side, but to be playing against my former team. We won our fair share of trophies, so I knew they would be a good side. It was also good to play against my older brother, the man who taught me how to defend.”
The game started well, with the C9 passing the ball around well, but were soon undone with a ball over the top, with the Corinthians striker holding off the defence to finish. The 2nd half started the same, with the Corries finishing off a nice move with a low shot into the bottom corner. With more attacking from both sides, it was up to the ‘keepers to have their say on the scoreline, both keeping out an array of shots. The Corinthians would go on to find a 3rd goal before the match finished.
“It was a great game of football today, with both teams looking to play the game on the deck. It was great to catch up with the Glasgow Corinthians after the match, with talk of coming on board as a partner team.”
